The Boomerang Method: A Give-First Marketing Play That Attracts High-Intent Local Clients

Table of Contents

Everyone involved in client SEO knows the excitement that comes with landing those first 3 or 4 clients.

Then the dreams kick in of multiplying that by 10, and you quickly run into roadblocks.

Achieving that is absolutely possible, even for a solopreneur taking the first steps to building an agency, but you have to find a scalable marketing solution.

It’s one of those roadblocks I personally struggled with, but I came up with a solution I call the Boomerang Method.

It’s a simple and highly targeted approach that takes minutes rather than days to implement.

And I’m going to show you exactly how to copy it.

The Real Outreach Roadblock: Pitching in Private, Not Earning Trust in Public

The typical outreach approach for SEOs involves starting with business owners they know and then branching out to cold emails and phone calls.

This hustle is a numbers game, and you need to be really motivated and good at sales.

But even if you’re good at this outreach approach, it comes with a major downside.

All your efforts involved in pitching to business owners happen in private. So it’s always a one-pitch-for-one-client scenario.

But what if you could flip that around?

Let me show you what I mean.

How To Multiply Attention, Credibility, And Word-of-Mouth Overnight

I’m not going to tell you to go down the road of inviting business owners to webinars where you pitch your service to multiple people at the same time.

It’s not a bad marketing model, but it still involves a lot more effort than the solution I have.

The method I stumbled across involves making an offer on social media (mainly Facebook) using a simple offer post in local groups.

Your offer gets public attention, and so does the interaction you have with the people who respond.

The best part is that everyone in the group also gets to see the end result of the offer, giving you instant credibility.

I’ll tell you right now that the offer involves giving away substantial value for free.

But with Xagio’s tools, it’ll cost you less than $25 and no more than 15 minutes of your time.

Introducing The Boomerang Client Magnet

Let me introduce you to the method that has landed me many clients. And I’ll also show you some proof from one of our Xagio Facebook group members.

Publicly Offer A Brand-New Website For Free

Yes, you read that right, you’re going to make a public post in a Facebook group offering to build a brand new and fully optimized website for one business owner for FREE.

Ideally, you’ll do this in local community or business groups, where you ask people to apply, and you’ll choose one business.

You’ll see multiple people engage with the post, and others sharing it with people they know. Depending on the number of group members, you can get quite a lot of comments.

Now, I know you might be worried about how much time, money, and effort it will cost to give away a website.

But I have a solution for that.

Choose A Lucky Business Owner

From all of the replies, choose one of the companies that doesn’t have a website and is in an industry where there are keywords with search volume.

Here’s what I mean.

There’s no point picking a company like “Pueblo door hinge repairs” because you’ll likely struggle to find keywords with any significant volume.

Ideally, you’ll have people in bigger or broader industries, like plumbers, roofers, and HVAC repairers, to choose from.

Build Fast And Look Polished With Agent X

Prior to the AI revolution, building a site and giving it away would have sounded like a completely crazy idea.

Not only would it cost hundreds of dollars, but it would also take many days, if not weeks, to design and create the content.

With Xagio’s Agent X, that all changes.

For the business you chose in the previous step, simply use their location and industry to identify the main target keyword.

For example, this might be “Phoenix pool builder.”

Tip: You can learn how to use Xagio’s Niche Hunter to help find the ideal niche keyword fast.

You can either register the domain yourself and then transfer it to the potential client, or ask them to register it.

Then, get the site set up with your hosting provider, and the toughest part is done.

Now, you simply use that keyword in Agent X on the new site, and 15 minutes later, you have a website with service, contact, and legal pages.

The site is even fully optimized for on-page SEO, including schema markup, so you have something serious to show off to the potential client and all the others who commented.

Which leads me to the major benefit of this method.

A Free Build That Pays Back

You have now created a website for someone, and you can tell them that you’ll host it for them for free for 6 or 12 months. Or you can transfer it to their hosting provider straight away.

You should still be framing everything for free so far.

Now, it’s time to explain to them what you can do to expand service pages and do SEO to rank the website higher in Google and attract leads.

You can even get some paid ads going to the site so that the client gets a couple of real leads to experience what it would be like.

Because you’ve already delivered substantial value and have an open conversation, selling additional services is going to be a hell of a lot easier than doing so with cold outreach.

The Boomerang Effect: From One Public Giveaway To Multiple Paying Clients

Here’s the real boomerang value in this method.

All the people who commented and interacted with your post will receive updates when you share the brand new website.

They get to see a professionally designed site with contact forms, phone numbers, and great content and images, all delivered in less than a day.

Possibly just a few hours

So, you’ve not only built trust with the business owner you created the site for, but other business owners can see the results and that you delivered a great product in record time.

More often than not, some of those business owners will imemidately contact you and ask what you charge, or you can send them a follow up message to get in contact if they’d like a quote.

I’ve also seen Xagio users simply reply to the other business owners in the Facebook group and offering the same service for $500.

I guarantee you that they have never had such a competitive quote, and it’s an easy and cheap process for you to turn it around.

Another slight variation on this is to offer the business owners to rent a site. You simply create a new website for their location and industry and then do SEO and run paid ads to get incoming leads.

How Effective Is This Method?

Here’s a screenshot that speaks for itself.

Parrish has used the approach of building Agent X sites and renting them out to clients in an extremely successful way.

The best part is that this is an insanely scalable solution.

You can join multiple groups in different locations and even post the offer in the same groups every six months.

People won’t turn down a free website.

And the more often you repeat this in multiple groups, the more you’ll see results from the boomerang method.
